The Ateneo Mercantil de Valencia is a cultural institution in Valencia, Spain, founded in 1879 by Estanislao García Monfort and, among others, by Eduardo Pérez Pujol, one of the advocates of neo-Gremialism who tried to bring together the trade clerks of the city of Valencia.
Since 1950, the Ateneo has been declared of Public Utility and has its headquarters in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento. It has around 4,000 members. Special mention should be made of its exceptional private collection of books and manuscripts. Since 1935, its library has been one of the great assets in the training of students and researchers in the province of Valencia and shows its vocation of service to society.
